Eating a tostada with style will take some skill and experience, but the taste of these varied mexican dishes is quite worth that effort! Tostadas are a fresh, delicious and a convenient mexican appetizer, that creates a whole new wide variety of possibilities. They can be layered with meat, chicken or even seafood and made with an infinite amount of possible variations... you just have to find the one you like best.

In Mexican cuisine, the tostada is an appetizer that begins with a fried corn tortilla, fried in oil for about one minute (30 seconds per side) until it became hard and crispy. It can be made by toasting on a hot griddle or fried in oil. People also commonly buy them ready-made at the store: they are relatively easy to find. The tostada can then be garnished with a layer of blended bean paste and then layered with any stew or boiled vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, avocado, grated cheese and some salsa. In some places we also add marinated chilies, tomato, sour cream, salt and ham. Tostadas can also be prepared with a single ingredient, or combined in others dishes such as ceviche.

In this section we will present you with ideas on how mexicans make their tostadas; we hope you find one you like but these recipes can also very well be used as just a starting point for you to create your own tostada recipe...
